After his time with Santana, Michael Shrieve went on to explore various musical endeavors, including collaborations with other musicians and bands. One of his notable projects was his involvement with the band Novo Combo.

Novo Combo was a new wave and rock band formed in the early 1980s when Michael and Stephen Dees decided to explore the pop / new wave world.

The band was known for its fusion of rock, pop, and electronic elements, capturing the musical spirit of the era. Michael Shrieve was a founding member of Novo Combo and played a significant role in shaping the band's sound with his drumming skills.

Novo Combo released several albums during their active years, and they achieved moderate success with their music. Some of their well-known songs include "Up Periscope" and "City Bound."

Although Novo Combo's popularity didn't reach the same heights as some of the other bands of the era, their music and contributions remain noteworthy in the context of the 1980s music scene.
